The Senate’s report into the contentious Detention and Interrogation Program on December 9, 2014, sent shock waves through the belief community.
The report details brutal interrogation practices employed by Central Intelligence Agency’s officers in the years following the 9/11 attacks and indicated that detainees’ religious beliefs were sometimes used for leverage during interrogations.
In the wake of the shocking release, Patheos authors looked inward as they analyzed the abuse allegations from a faith perspective. They examined the ethics of torture, questioned whether extreme interrogation is ever justified, and asked if the U.S. government has lost its moral authority.
