Jesus of Nazareth, more commonly referred to as Jesus Christ, is the central figure in Christianity. Christians believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is believed to be the Son of God and Savior of the world in Christianity and Messianic Judaism. Modern scholars agree almost unanimously that Jesus of Nazareth was a real person who lived during the Second Temple period who was executed on the orders of Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor at the time. On the third day, He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. He is considered to be one of the most important prophets in Islam as well. Both Christians and Muslims believe that Jesus will return before Judgement Day.
