Pope Calls For Peace: Will Catholics Answer The Call?

We have recently been told that Pope Benedict is working on a new encyclical, and its content will be about social justice.

Today, the news is reporting that the Pope has made yet another call for peace . He is asking for people all over the world to give up the “old systems” which have not created peace.

War and peace have been in the Pope’s thoughts and meditations during his vacation. He is saddened by the wars which are being waged around the world, and suggests what he sees in them is just “useless slaughter.”

Will peace be the theme for his next encyclical? I do not know; but the fact that he is reflecting upon peace and calling for it while he is working on the next encyclical suggests it might be; even if it is not, he has made a continuous call for peace throughout his reign. It is one consistent message we can find being declared throughout his Papacy. Will Catholics listen?
