Why I Like to Write

Why I Like to Write 2022-04-01T05:36:33-06:00

I didn’t talk much in high school. But, one thing that I would respond to quickly is what was my worst subject. That was an easy answer. I hated English and Composition.

In high school, Mrs. Allen awaken me to creative writing.  I would like to say that from there I just vaulted into writing and loved it ever since, but it didn’t happen that way. College open my eyes to criticism, which was designed to help me but didn’t feel that way.

Later on, I took some classes to finish my bachelor’s degree and the method for the program was all writing. After getting over the learning curve, I started to enjoy being able to write to demonstrate my understanding.

I never really found time while raising kids and trying to make a living to write much, but when I came to my dark night in midlife, writing became a way to express myself and to discover what I was thinking. Every time I sat down to write, my first thought is “I have nothing to say.” But with some contemplation and stillness, the emotions, thoughts and understandings begin to surface.

There’s something about our inner knowing that is activated through our own individual practices. For me this has been solitude and then writing in that order.

I’ve written a half dozen books and published four in the past few years.. They are a part of me that have been expressed and preserved for the future. It may seem like I talk about my books all the time, but it’s only because they are a part of me and I want to share them with the world.

I hope you will discover these books on Amazon or at your local bookstore or wherever you buy books.  The first three are about my journey which may relate to yours, and the fourth is a novel that also speaks to transformation and discovery.

Find my books on Bookshop which helps local booksellers.

Be where you are, be who you are!
