I can’t tell you how often I’ve wished I could text someone a pentacle emoji. It’s literally several times every day. (Yes, I text a lot.)
Looking through the religious emojis for a pentacle… I guess it’s not in this software upgrade either…
We have gay and lesbian emojis (yay!) Additionally, redhead emojis are on the way in June 2018. Now, it’s time to look at other emoji options for the next software upgrade. I think a pentacle emoji would be a great step forward.
Our religion has been squashed, overlooked, whitewashed, and blacklisted. With a massive history of oppression and malaignment, I’m surprised that acceptance of our ways isn’t one of the hottest talking points today.
We can do a few things to de-marganalize our religions and help the progress toward equality. Some ways to mainstream our religions include having open rituals and pagan pride celebrations, as well as wearing our pentacles in public, if we feel safe. Hosting pagan podcasts, having public speakers, and populating social media pages also help people find community and representation.
But mainstreaming doesn’t stop with us. People outside our circles should support us too, by promoting pagans positively in media, by spotlighting pagan books in bookstores and libraries, and by treating us as equals in other ways.
Having a pentacle at our fingertips would be a radical act of equality that we deserve in this modern era. In this age of civil rights and equality, we need to push the envelope and not stand idly by.

After all, we have faeries, merpeople, vampires, and monster emojis… what about an emoji that would mean a lot to hundreds of thousands of people? I’m tired of waiting for the corporations to think of us.
If there are any coders out there who know how to create the pentacle emoji symbols in the unicode application, I’d be grateful to you for making it happen. We’ve been disempowered too long. It’s time for our star to shine as brightly as our hearts and souls.
One last note — I don’t know about you, but I’d trade my phone in for whichever company can give me a pentacle emoji. I’m more loyal to my religion than any phone brand. What about you? Would you swap phones and providers? Let me know in the comments below.
