Pay Attention to All that Trump Has Said and Done!

Consider this an addendum to my previous blog post about former President Donald Trump’s statements that if elected again he will “fix it” so that his followers never have to vote again. I read the responses and here is my response to those who disagreed with my interpretation and warning:

I believe you are not paying attention to all the pieces of the puzzle (to use a metaphor for all the things Trump has said and done) into which this one (mentioned above) fits. I do not take his statement about fixing it so they (his followers) never have to vote again in isolation. I think you do.

When I react to Trump’s promise to fix it so that his followers will never have to vote again (if he should be elected again) I am interpreting that in light of: His promise to take vengeance on his enemies, his describing the mass news media as “enemies of the people,” his whipping up his followers to “fight,” his inciting of the assault on the US Capitol building, his refusal to call leaders of that assault to stop it, his continuing claim that the election was “stolen,” his declaration that he intends to be a “dictator” even if only for one day, etc.

What I see is a pattern, not just one isolated statement (made at least twice) about fixing it so that his followers will not have to vote again. Trump’s demeanor is that of a narcissist and would-be autocrat. And he is a convicted felon. He is also a demagogue.

I am not alone in thinking that Trump wants to be a dictator. I can name Robert Reich and Leon Panetta as others who have warned about Trump—as a would-be dictator (autocrat).

So, my advice and response to you who disagree with me is to interpret what Trump said about fixing it so that his followers will never have to vote again in context with ALL that he has said and done.
