Many, many moments,
Of agony and grief,
Your heart nearly spent,
There seems no relief.
The misery is endless,
The days go slowly by,
There seems no escape,
The walls – oh, so high.
Though you feel all alone,
And think nobody cares,
I am who is listening,
In the midst of your despair.
No life goes without notice,
No life goes without tears,
I am ever-present,
Dispelling all your fears.
Keeper of the night,
Keeper of the light,
Keeper of the heart,
That keeps up the fight.
My presence is upon you,
As you walk in this place,
The terror, the torment,
You cannot see my face.
Shadowed by the enemy,
Neither can you hear,
Darkness surrounds you,
And grows ever near.
All seem against you,
As you go along the way,
Clinging to what you have,
Though earth will pass away.
Let not your heart be troubled,
Let not your heart lose sight,
Every moment I am with you,
To counter every plight.
Keeper of the night,
Keeper of the light,
Keeper of the heart,
That keeps up the fight.
You think you are finished,
You think you are through,
Call upon My name,
I know what to do.
There is a place to walk,
Surefooted and secure,
My arms are there to guide,
Steady, safe, and sure.
No other way to go,
No better place to be,
Than near the bosom of My heart,
As you draw close to Me.
My love is forever,
My mercy and grace are too,
Life is never hopeless,
I am here with you –
Keeper of the night,
Keeper of the light,
Keeper of the heart,
That keeps up the fight.
Therefore, He says: “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” Ephesians 5:14 (NKJV)
