Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams].Ephesians 3:20 (AMP)
John Maxwell says “A dream is an inspiring picture of the future that energizes your mind, will and emotions, empowering you to do everything you can to achieve it.”
Every one of us has hopes and dreams within our heart that we would like to see fulfilled. What are your hopes and dreams for your life? For your family? For your career? For your relationships?
Over the Rainbow
There’s a line in “Over the Rainbow” that says, “Someday I’ll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me.”
That’s where many of us end up in life. Somewhere…..there’s a place better than I’m in now. Somewhere…..there’s a place where my dreams are fulfilled. Someday…..I’ll get there. The problem is that we have limited this somewhere and someday to when we die and are in Heaven. But, what about here and now? Are we supposed to always live between somewhere and someday? Are we saved to live in depression and discouragement, barely making it through until Jesus returns? No! “…..I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10b (AMP)
We’re not supposed to check our dreams at the door. We’re saved for a reason. And it’s not to just go with the flow and barely get by. What would you dream of doing if you had no hindrances? Well, there aren’t any. The light is always green.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
Greatness Inside
We all must dream dreams; for every area of our lives. We definitely should have goals we are working towards other than just making it into heaven. There is something inside each of us that will lead to greatness that was placed there by The Creator. Sadly, many will choose not to tap into that greatness. We have to work towards are dreams, if need be incrementally and at times large steps will be necessary.
If we choose, we can exist in the somewhere-someday mentality and never accomplish anything. We’re just coasting through life, letting things happen to us. But that’s not living. That’s not our purpose. Our purpose is greatness.
A paradigm is a way through which we view something. It’s how we interpret something based on how we see it. It’s the way things are supposed to be, according to our perceptions. In other words, what we see is often determined by our view of the world. Why is it so hard for us to dream big dreams? Why do we have so much trouble dreaming big dreams? Because many times it goes against our perceptions, the way we think things should be. It goes against our paradigm. Maybe it’s outside of the box we’ve been confined to either by ourselves, our church, our family or friends.
Change your Paradigm
What would you dream if you dared to dream outside of the box? What dreams are you going to dream? Will you dream big? Or will you be trapped in the somewhere-someday mentality? Decide to dream outside your paradigm. Then dream some big dreams and set some goals to achieve those dreams. Work at those goals incrementally if necessary or take big steps when needed.
Get a new paradigm. Don’t get stuck between somewhere and someday. Dare to dream big dreams. Get out of the box. Call on and access the Christ inside of you and make your dreams come true.
