The Rev. Dr. Dorothy Sanders Wells is an Episcopal priest and pastor in Memphis, Tennessee, and often writes about justice and equity issues for all of God’s people. Wells is a former attorney and a 1982 graduate of Rhodes College where she was awarded the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award in 2015. She works for the community through her work as a minister and with several nonprofits in the Memphis area. Her work has been recently recognized by the Associated Church Press – Best of the Church Press Awards for 2022. Rev. Sanders also leads conversations on writing about contemporary issues through the scriptural lens with national writing groups.

Rev. Sanders enjoys writing for Patheos because “Much of my writing is in response to contemporary issues affecting justice and equity for all of God’s people. Writing for Patheos allows me to address those contemporary issues through a spiritual and scriptural lens – and respond quickly.”

Rev. Sanders offers up this, “My advice for future Patheos writers is to find your authentic writing voice, hone your skill, embrace your unique style, claim your unique spiritual perspective – and WRITE!”
