The film, releasing Easter weekend through Dayspring, Hallmark’s faith-based imprint, follows a story of personal discovery that resonated strongly with Cahill.

“I cried, legitimately got teary or cried almost every single day,” she said of her filming experience in Spain.

Shooting on the historic Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, Cahill was struck by the authenticity of the location. During filming, the production would occasionally encounter actual pilgrims, creating a unique backdrop for the movie. “We’d be like, ‘Okay, back to one,’ and then they’d say, ‘Wait, are those not our pilgrims? Those are actual pilgrims,'” she recalled.

The movie represents a continuation of Cahill’s long-standing relationship with Hallmark, a network she describes as a “beautiful, special place to work.” She emphasized the network’s core mission of celebrating love in all its forms.

“It’s a network devoted to love and all kinds of different love,” Cahill explained.

For Cahill, the appeal of Hallmark movies goes beyond simple entertainment. She believes these films serve a crucial emotional need, especially in challenging times.

“We’re at a special time in the world where I think the more love we can share and generate is really necessary,” she said.

The actress has become known for her work in family-friendly content, a aspect of her career she deeply values.

“Many generations can watch it together,” she noted, highlighting the inclusive nature of Hallmark productions. This accessibility is something she’s intentionally sought throughout her career, always considering whether her work would be appropriate for multiple age groups.

Her commitment to creating content that brings people together is evident in her approach to storytelling. “As long as they’ll have me, I’ll keep telling stories about love and hope and connection,” Cahill said, “because we need that right now in the world.”

The Spain-based film has made such an impression on Cahill that she and her husband are planning to return to the country for their anniversary in September.

“I fell so in love with it,” she said of the location, describing the scenery as “magnificent” and even more beautiful in person than on screen.

While Hallmark is known for its romantic narratives, Cahill emphasizes that “Journey to You” offers something deeper. “Whether you identify as whatever in your spiritual journey, it’s a story everyone can relate to,” she explained. The film’s connection to the Dayspring faith-based division adds an additional layer of meaning to the project.

Cahill’s enthusiasm reflects her broader passion for storytelling that connects and uplifts audiences. Her work with Hallmark represents more than just acting – it’s a form of what might be called social storytelling, creating content that brings people together and offers hope.

“It’s such a gift to be able to share that,” she said.
