Today’s ‘historic’ hearing before the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee on national security listened to testimony as credible as it is sensational. The momentary heroes were two Navy pilots—David Fravor and Ryan Graves—along with former intelligence officer—David Grusch. Commenting on New Nation, UFO researcher Nike Pope exclaimed that now, finally, national security and flight safety have become public issues. I found this exciting, to be sure. But, is it promising?
Yes, the U.S. government houses empirical evidence that earth’s skies are being roamed by an advanced technology that just might come from NHI (Non-Human Intelligence).
Yes, the U.S. government possess extraterrestrial spacecraft and is reverse engineering the technology.
Yes, the U.S. government is keeping this knowledge secret.
Yes, our U.S. congressional representatives are now so riled up that they plan to uncover the secrets and make transparent to the public what the government knows. More dangerous than the UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) is government secrecy about UAP.
Does this mean we’ll finally attain disclosure?
Naysayers such as Mick West of Scientific American complain that, despite the excitement on Capitol Hill, we still have not seen the evidence.
The Pentagon pushed back against the whistleblowers, saying this testimony was “insulting.” Is that a good sign?
Disclosure of UFOs on Capitol Hill
Disclosure is the word shouted for decades by Steven Greer and other UFO afficionados pestering Uncle Sam for information.
Will disclosure now take place? Or will the Pentagon bar the door to keep Congress out?
What can we forecast about disclosure of UFOs on Capitol Hill?
The hopefuls among us deem this event “historic” and believe the “genie cannot be put back into the bottle” (George Knapp). The dam is about to break! Information will now flow like Niagara Falls. Right?
I have hope. But I don’t have expectation.
We’ve been at this point many times over the last 75 years. Recall the August 1952 press conference with Major General John A. Samford’s to address the flap of flying saucers flying over the nation’s capitol between July 19 and 27 of that year. Or recall the decade and a half work of Project Bluebook by the U.S. Air Force. Or recall Representative Gerald Ford’s funding of what would become the Condon Report in 1969. In every case no revelations of what the public expected took place.
Will today’s attention of UFOs on Capitol Hill be different? Will something finally happen?
My forecast is negative. Why? Because we the people do not actually want disclosure. At the preconscious level, we want to believe that the U.S. military is virtually omnipotent. We want to believe that the Pentagon has received technological revelations that have descended from the heavens that give America preeminence in the skies.
Our ascription of secret knowledge having fallen from heaven provides symbolic comfort. In short, the outcry for disclosure is an oblique form of respect if not worship of the Pentagon.
Now, you may say, “Ted! That’s so extreme! Even outrageous.”
Well, let me remind you that this myth—myth understood as a framework for interpretation—has remained virtually constant since July 1947, the month of the Roswell UFO crash. How else might this virtually unchanged tug-of-war over disclosure be explained?
Imagine this scenario.
Imagine the following scenario. The Pentagon opens its door so that all UFO researchers and congressional lawmakers can enter and examine all previously classified evidence. And imagine that after full examination there are no aliens.
What do you predict would happen? I submit that the disclosure investigators would complain: but you must still be hiding something!
In short, the disclosure demand is a bottomless pit.
Conclusion
UFOs on Capitol Hill. What a great day! I loved it.
What next? Will disclosure finally take place? Sorry. I have my doubts.
Now, I hope I’m wrong about this.
