Welcome to Proverbial Pie! This column is centered around living a thoughtful Christian life.
Why “pie”? I’m a traditional Anabaptist (I grew up Mennonite). It seems that one of the things we’re known for is making good pies. Just so you know, I don’t get any credit for that reputation.
Why “proverbial”? Because I’m not making actual pie on this blog. But also, I care deeply about growing in wisdom, and wisdom often shows up in proverbs.
Besides, I enjoy good conversations with people, and the best conversations often happen over good food. So while you’re reading, you may want to dole out a portion of your favorite snack or drink and join me in having some Proverbial Pie.
On this column, we’ll talk about questions that are big in many people’s minds—like how to be like Christ, who God is, and how to find what our purpose is. We’ll also talk about questions that should probably be bigger than they are—like how to live in peace with other people, how to practice community, and how to live with our weaknesses.
But we’ll also talk about what Anabaptists believe and how they live, so that you know what perspective I come from. Finally, did I mention that I love conversations? Do reach out if you have any questions!
