Interfaith Wedding Minister

Ploch_Ceremony-102It could be a simple meeting on the street, or at a party, or through an email exchange. “Suddenly there is the flash of recognition and the embers of kinship glow.”

As a former Irish-born priest of the Catholic Diocese of Oakland, California I have officiated at numerous weddings (of various denominations and none) over the years.

Now a “Clergy in Good Standing” with the International Council of Community Churches, I am authorized to officiate at weddings anywhere in the U.S.

I’ve officiated at weddings in churches, country clubs, gardens and a downtown bar!

Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to help couples prepare the ceremony of their dreams — a solemn & joyous ritual that reflects their innermost intentions and the Spirit that unites them.

Meetings

Generally I meet the couple three times. The first meeting is an informal “getting to know you” conversation, where I get a sense of the couple’s journey together, their fundamental compatibility and the ideas and vision they have of their “special day.”

From here our communication is normally via email/phone as I help them design their ceremony, simple or elaborate. I have a broad portfolio of readings, poems and program outlines from which they can choose, if so desired.

I make myself available for the wedding rehearsal, although this is not always necessary. And finally, we meet on the day of the ceremony itself.

LGBT Weddings

I am honored and available to officiate at LGBT weddings/ceremonies in the State of Virginia.

Fee

I charge a reasonable rate for my services. Depending on the distance and time involved, travel expenses may be added.

“When two people fall in love, each comes in out of the loneliness of exile, home to the one house of belonging . . Each recognizes the other as the one in whom their heart could be at home.”              John O’ Donohue
