2. Community is vital. Many (not all) traditional churches are smaller churches. While many modern churches may look down their noses at small traditional churches and their ‘backward ways,’ small traditional churches have one vital key to the Christian faith: community. Everyone knows everyone. When you walk into the church building, you are greeted by familiar faces and families. In today’s culture where anonymity and social isolation are the norm, too many modern churches fail to do the hard work of turning a crowd into a community. The modern church’s work isn’t done when they can successfully shove 1000 people into a building for a worship service. That crowd needs to turn into disciples, and that happens primarily through biblical community.
