Stop Condemning Trump for His Flaws

Stop Condemning Trump for His Flaws 2024-10-29T13:21:21-07:00

I’m having a tough time respecting the pastors and theologians who refuse to support Trump because they don’t like his character. Instead of bashing Trump, maybe they should focus on the grace that allows them to preach the gospel in the first place. Some Christians act like they’re morally superior to Trump, not recognizing their own righteousness is as filthy rags to God. The gospel couldn’t be more clear: believers are made righteous because of one person, Jesus Christ. No one stands right before God based on their moral behavior. We don’t have time for self-righteous attitudes when the country’s future is on the line.

Samson: Chosen by God

Look at Samson—his life was a train wreck. He was impulsive, reckless, and morally weak, yet God still used him to deliver Israel. Even with all his flaws, Samson is listed in Hebrews 11’s “Hall of Faith” right next to the greatest spiritual figures in history. If God can use someone like Samson, why are we acting like Trump’s imperfections disqualify him? Let’s not forget: God uses broken people for His greatest purposes.

King Cyrus: Chosen by God

Then there’s King Cyrus, a pagan who didn’t even believe in God, yet he was chosen to free the Israelites from captivity. Isaiah 45:1-4 says God specifically raised up Cyrus to fulfill His purpose, despite the fact that Cyrus didn’t even know Him. This should be a wake-up call for Christians who are quick to reject Trump over his imperfections. If God can use a pagan king, He can certainly use someone like Trump to lead this nation.

Trump’s Opponents Are No Saints

Trump’s critics love to talk about his character, but what about the people opposing him? Are they really the role models we should be looking up to? They openly support policies that mock God—whether it’s promoting abortion, pushing radical gender ideologies, or undermining religious freedom. If we’re going to have a conversation about character, let’s be honest: Trump’s opponents aren’t exactly saints. The real issue isn’t Trump’s flaws; it’s that his opponents support an agenda that’s completely hostile to the values we hold dear.

What About Trump’s Virtues?

It’s amazing how many people, especially Christians, overlook the good parts about Trump. It’s pretty clear to me that Trump deeply loves this country. He fights—relentlessly—for America. He’s fearless in the face of constant attacks from the media, the left, and even within his own party. Trump embodies “Fight! Fight! Fight!”—and that’s exactly the kind of leadership we need right now. Not to mention that his policies worked during his first term. The economy soared, borders were secured, and international peace deals were achieved. Christians need to stop buying into the lies and start recognizing Trump for what he accomplished and can accomplish again.

Divine Protection Over Trump

If you need further convincing, what about God’s hand of protection on Trump? He’s survived two assassination attempts, including one where a bullet grazed his ear. That’s not just luck—that’s divine protection. If you can’t see God’s hand in that, you’re simply not paying attention. God’s been using Trump, imperfections and all, to guide this nation through turbulent times. And with every attack thrown at him—whether it’s the assassination attempts, relentless law fare, or exaggerated media smears—they only seems to bolster his support.

At this crucial moment, it’s important for Christians to step back and see the bigger picture. No leader is perfect—none of us are. But the Bible shows us time and time again that God uses flawed people to do extraordinary things. Trump, with all his imperfections, is no different. We may not always understand why God chooses certain people, but we must trust that He has a purpose, even when it challenges our assumptions.
