“All that is composite will decompose and return to its origin. But those who are awakened to Reality without beginning or end know the uncreated and eternal.
“The names we give to worldly realities are deceptive, creating illusions and turning our hearts away from reality to the unreal.
“The one who hears the word “God” doesn’t think of what is real but of what is not real; an illusion of reality. So, also, the words “Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Life, Light, Resurrection, Church and all the other words – these do not speak of reality and we will understand this one day when we experience reality for ourselves.
“All the words we hear in this world only deceive us. If they existed in the eternal age they wouldn’t have been used as names for worldly things and they would keep silent and no longer refer to the worldly things; in the Temple Space [Aeon] they fall silent.” [The Gospel of Philip, 10b-11]
Everything and everyone will eventually return to that original state of Oneness and Unity with the All. Our consciousness will awaken within the Great Consciousness which is our true and fundamental identity.
Awakening to the reality of Oneness is how we come to see reality for what it truly is. Before this, we are moving around in the illusion that is marked by separation.
Language is one of the ways the illusion of separation persists. Even religious words like Father, Son, and Spirit, Life, Light, Resurrection and Church reinforce the ideas of separation between ourselves and God, and between one another.
The word “God” suggests one who is above us all and separate from us. The God most of us imagine is “up there” and “out there” and “far away” from our human experience. But this is entirely false. God is “the one who fills everything, in every way” and is “all and in all” and we are all “filled with the fullness” of God.
Another problem with the word “God” is the need to engender the term as “He” or “She”; neither of which speaks accurately or truthfully about the fullness of God as a being that transcends sex and gender. God is not male or female. God does not have a penis or a vagina. To think of God in this way is to misunderstand reality itself fundamentally. And the same can be said for the words Resurrection, Church and the others mentioned above. Any word that reinforces the concept of separation simply perpetuates the illusion and leaves reality languishing in the shadow of darkness.
Thankfully, this darkness cannot persist. One day we will all fully comprehend the Truth of Unity and Oneness; whether in this life or the next, who can say? But the destiny of reality is to be revealed, one way or another.
And when we finally awaken to this profound reality of the One Consciousness, there is only one appropriate response: silence.
