Surfing is a very hard but fun exercise. I learned how to surf at Choco’s Surf School in Samara, Costa Rica. Let me tell you about it.
Choco’s is a great surf school. It’s only one block from our apartment. I took lessons with one of their teachers named Marco. He was funny.
They gave us all a board for free. They gave Nafisa, my mom, and my dad a surf shirt. My brother and I already had one. You need a shirt to protect your chest. It’s called a rash guard.

To surf you have to go through five steps. First, you choose a wave. Next, you lay on the board and start paddling. Next, you stand up. Then you keep the board balanced. And then you ride the wave.
It was easy at first. But it gets harder as you learn more stuff. It’s less fun than riding a bike or boogie boarding or skate boarding. But I’m really proud because it’s really hard.
I think it will get more fun when I get better.
