It’s no secret: Donald Trump loves women. He obviously loves having wives. And he really loves knockouts. The Donald finds power in surrounding himself with beautiful women. Yet, Trump continues to prove time and time again that he is no respecter of women.
In fact, some of what Trump has said about women, heck, even his own daughters, is downright cringeworthy. It’s one thing when Trump “the billionaire reality show star” says something off-color but it’s another when he is Trump “the GOP nominee for president of the United States.” When you get to that point in your life, people are going to do some digging, and digging they’ve done and what they’ve found is revealing… in a “yuuuge” way.
Howard Stern interviewed Trump in the 1990s about how to treat a woman. (Hint: It’s never a good thing when Howard Stern comes up in a story about respecting women.) In the interview, Stern said, “You once said that the best way to treat a woman is to treat her like doodie.”
“Nah, I never said that but it was attributed to me,” Trump responded.
“Oh, I see. So, you treat women with respect?” Stern countered.
With a smirk Trump laughed, “Uh, I can’t say that either.”
Well, at least we’re off to a good start.
But it gets worse thanks to another clip from the archives. Comedy Central’s Trevor Noah unearthed it for The Daily Show. It’s from a 1994 episode of Robin Leach’s masterpiece television show, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Trump was asked to comment on what attributes his then 1-year-old daughter Tiffany inherited from her parents. At that time, Trump was married to Marla Maples. Trump’s response was… well, it was awful:
“Well, I think she’s got a lot of Marla in her. She’s a really beautiful baby and she’s got Marla’s legs. We don’t know whether or not she’s got this part yet but time will tell.”
Which part is that exactly? Trump made the universal hand motion for breasts. Ack! And even though Noah is a bleeding heart liberal, I made the same face:
It’d be bad enough if that was all Trump said about one of his daughters, but alas, it’s not. As People.com noted, he once said, “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I would be dating her.”
Ick factor now at defcon 1,000,000.
