King Herod (Mark Hamill) in The King of Kings.
The King of Kings is the first animated film to be released in theatres by Angel Studios, the company behind His Only Son, Sound of Freedom, Cabrini, The Shift, Bonhoeffer, Homestead, and more.

The film was inspired by Charles Dickens’ The Life of Our Lord — a book about Jesus that Dickens wrote in the 1840s and read to his children every Christmas, and which his family didn’t publish until after the last of his children had died in the 1930s — and the official synopsis goes like so:

A father tells his son the greatest story ever told, and what begins as a bedtime tale becomes a life-changing journey. Through vivid imagination, the boy walks alongside Jesus, witnessing His miracles, facing His trials, and understanding His ultimate sacrifice. The King of Kings invites us to rediscover the enduring power of hope, love and redemption through the eyes of a child.

Kenneth Branagh provides the voice of Charles Dickens, while Roman Griffin Davis voices Dickens’ son Walter, and Oscar Isaac — who got his start playing Jesus’ earthly father Joseph in The Nativity Story — voices the part of Jesus himself. Other actors in the cast include Uma Thurman as Dickens’ wife Catherine, Forest Whitaker as Peter, Mark Hamill as King Herod, Ben Kingsley as Caiaphas, and Pierce Brosnan as Pontius Pilate.

The film is opening in theatres today, and we have a clip to show you, in which Walter watches the Magi meet King Herod:
