Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter are three very special days for Christians all around the world. These days are part of what is called Holy Week, and each one teaches us important lessons about faith, love, and the power of resurrection. Let’s dive into what each day represents and the valuable teachings they offer us through Bible scriptures.

Palm Sunday: The Triumphal Entry

Palm Sunday is the day we remember Jesus Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. As he rode into the city on a donkey, crowds of people spread palm branches and cloaks on the road before him, shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” This event is mentioned in all four Gospels (Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19), showing its importance.

Palm Sunday teaches us about humility and the fulfillment of prophecy. Despite being the King of Kings, Jesus chose to ride on a humble donkey, showing that true greatness comes from being humble and serving others. Just as the people welcomed Jesus, we should also open our hearts and let him be the king of our lives.

Good Friday: The Sacrifice

Good Friday is a solemn day that commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It might seem strange to call a day dedicated to remembering someone’s death “good,” but it’s called “good” because of the good outcome that came from Jesus’ sacrifice. The most poignant scripture that highlights this event is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Good Friday teaches us about the ultimate sacrifice and the depth of God’s love for us. Jesus willingly suffered and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, offering us forgiveness and the chance for a new beginning. This shows us how we should be willing to sacrifice for others and love unconditionally.

Easter: The Resurrection

Easter is the day Christians celebrate Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, which is mentioned in all four Gospels (Matthew 28:1-10, Mark 16:1-8, Luke 24:1-12, and John 20:1-18). It is the most joyous day in the Christian calendar because it proves that Jesus is the Son of God and that he has power over death.

Easter teaches us about hope, renewal, and the power of God’s love. The resurrection of Jesus shows that death is not the end, and it gives us hope for eternal life. It reminds us that with God, nothing is impossible, and it encourages us to live our lives with faith and joy.

Holy Week

Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter together tell the story of Jesus Christ’s last days on Earth, his sacrifice, and his victory over death. These days remind us of the important lessons of humility, sacrifice, love, hope, and renewal. By reflecting on these events and what they teach us, we can grow closer to God and better understand the incredible love He has for us. Let’s carry these lessons in our hearts not just during Holy Week, but every day of our lives.
