Here are my top 7 Bible verses about God’s creation and God as Creator.

Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”

Anyone that goes out on a starry night must stand amazed at the expanse or size of the universe. Since the universe cannot be measured by man, its Creator must be so much bigger. Indeed, “In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands” (Psalm 102:25). Isaiah writes “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance” (Isaiah 40:12)? The answer of course is God.

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

This statement by God flatly states that God simply created the heavens and the earth. Speaking of the creation, Psalm 33:9 says “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm” and “Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it” (Lam 3:37)? The Bible is not a science book about the heavens as much as it is a book about how to get there.

Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

There is nothing that was not created. The universe could not have always existed because it had a finite starting point and it is expanding at an ever increasing speed. Everything that exists, whether visible or not, is being held together by the word of His power and all things hold together in Him so to deny God is deny the effect of the cause and that is the Creator. As Paul states “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Rom 1:19-20). There can be no excuse for denying God and Him as the Creator which is why only a fool would proclaim that there is no God (Psalm 14:10) for they cannot even prove what they claim, that He does not exist, and thus, they are without excuse.

Hebrews 11:3 “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”

Three times in just these past two paragraphs there was reference made to the invisible things and here it says plainly that things consist of or are made out of things that that are not visible to the naked eye. This was almost two thousand years before we even knew about atoms and subatomic particles. Everything we see consists of multiple billions of atoms that we cannot see, although today we can actually look at these under powerful microscopes.

Isaiah 42:5 “Thus says God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which comes out of it; he that gives breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein.”

The heavens are indeed spread out and spreading out as I write this at an unbelievable speed. God stretched them out and this stretching is still going on. In this verse it is God Himself proclaiming that He is the One Who created the heavens and stretched them out. You can see this at night and the universe stretches out as far as the human eye or Hubble Space Telescope can see.

Job 38:31-32a “Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades? Can you loosen Orion’s belt? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons?”

In this rebuke of Job and his self-righteousness, God declares that He is not only the maker of the universe but He can bind the chains of the constellations like the Pleiades and Orion if He wills. He moves the earth for her seasons which is what He means by saying “Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons?” The obvious answer is no. These constellations move, from our earthly perspective, when the season’s change.

Psalm 8:3 “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place.”

David could look up into the heavens, calling them “your heavens” meaning ownership, and with the work of his finger he set in place the moon and the stars so it amazes David that he can still be mindful of man and care for him (Psalm 8:4).

Conclusion

To read more about the amazing God’s handiwork, read Job chapter 37. In this chapter and the following chapters, it shows just how omnipotent our God is. There is nothing that He cannot do and no one who can prohibit what He wills to do. When you see the creation in all of its magnificence, you cannot deny the Creator, you can only suppress this truth (Rom 1:18), which is, sadly, what mankind attempts to do, but they are without excuse (Rom 1:20).
