Thoughts for Thursday

Thoughts for Thursday

Let’s be honest, this little sweetie is oft in my thoughts throughout the day!  Lucky me…

What am I cooking?

Last night’s meal?  Chicken Marsala, noodles, salad.  Tonight’s meal?  Nothing yet planned.  Yikes!  I am usually a fervent meal-planner, alas this week never really got going.  I had a few meals that were bumped from last week to this one, so I used those ingredients for early week dinners.  A mad dash to the store on Monday (with kids) procured our staple food items, but I’ve yet to get back there.  Thaw the frozen chipper chicken!  It’s marinated chicken-on-the-grill night!

What am I reading?

Blogs.  Lots of them.  And The Bible— great book, I recommend it.  Also, Real Simple magazine.

What are my weekend plans?

Saturday will be dueling soccer games in the morning–two games, same time, same location.  Since my dh will be coaching one of them, I will most definitely be at the other (hoping my 4yo will decide to play this week!)  Sunday will involve Mass and an Engaged Encounter team picnic.

What are my prayer intentions for the day?

For a dear friend who is struggling.  For her peace, patience, and resilience.

What can my children do instead of watching TV?

Why, make birthday cards for their grandmother, of course!  Whip out the glitter glue and they won’t know what hit ’em!  What is it about glitter glue that is so fantastic?!

What is one product that is making my life a little easier?

My BOB Duallie Revolution.  Love it.  I have used it incessantly for the past 4 years and now, once again, it’s saving me with child #3 and 4 as I schlep them to and from kindergarten pick-up.  Thank you for being part of our family, BOB.  We love you.

What am I grateful for?

The stress in my life that is silly stress.  It is completely unrelated to shelter, food, or safety for myself or my family.  I am so fortunate.

What have I done for my marriage this week?

My dh and I had a wonderfully long chat the other night.  We talked, listened, and never raised our voices or got defensive.

What’s challenging me lately?

Having a conversation like this when my boys get home from school: (B-mama) “How was your day?”,  (boy) “Good.”,  (B-mama) “What did you do at school today?”  (boy) “I don’t remember”, (B-mama) “Who did you play with on the playground?, (boy) “I don’t know”…  This goes on for a bit until I am spent from asking questions and they are off to the next adventure.  Oh, Boys!!!  Can’t wait for my little girl to grow up and divulge everything!

Something that made me think?

A PBS special I watched last week about immigrants escaping Zimbabwe to South Africa.  As I watched a reunited married couple rejoice in their 6′ x 6′ mud shack, I was reminded of how charmed my life is.  I felt very spoiled.
