Today, presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will host a campaign event at the Carter County Detention Center in Grayson, KY. The jail is housing Kim Davis, who is being held in contempt of court for her failure to heed judicial rulings requiring her to administer the duties of her office, or resign. Huckabee will be flanked by representatives from Liberty Counsel, National Organization for Marriage, Family Research Council, and Concerned Women for America. It will be a busy day in for Davis; another presidential... Read more

Kim Davis is the clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky, responsible for issuing marriage licenses, and the latest citizen to find herself at the center of a national controversy over marriage, homosexuality, and the law. Davis understands that marriage is between one man and one woman. After the Supreme Court nationalized a mistaken understanding of marriage in Obergefell Davis ceased issuing marriage licenses and instructed everyone else in her office to do the same. Lawsuits followed, which she lost, but Davis continues to refuse to... Read more

WORLD Magazine reports that Union University will withdraw as a member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). The decision comes after the CCCU failed to take substantive action in response to a change in policy by two member institutions, Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) and Goshen College, that added “sexual orientation” to their non-discrimination policies. Their new policy allows for the hiring of staff and faculty engaged in unrepentant sexual sin. After being informed of the policy change... Read more

The events of the last few weeks remind us of the present evil age in which we live. We have been exposed to video evidence of the systematic, methodical execution of unborn children by Planned Parenthood affiliates in order to salvage the desirable body parts for sale to firms for scientific testing. We have been forced to watch as just five members of the Supreme Court declared a constitutional right to “same-sex marriage,” further obscuring the truth about the immorality... Read more

Julie Rodgers, advocate of the notion of a “gay Christian” identity, resigned from her position as ministry associate for spiritual care at Wheaton College (IL) on the same day she admitted her support for  homosexual relationships. The news was confirmed by LaTonya Taylor, the college’s director of media relations, in an email: Julie Rodgers recently held a position at Wheaton College. Her work schedule was consistent with the academic year and as such, she finished her time on campus in... Read more

My good buddy Matthew Lee Anderson thinks I am wrong about the inclusion of David Gushee and Matthew Vines at the upcoming Q conference. You should read the piece. Typical Anderson, it is smart, nuanced, and characteristic of the fearlessness known only to those sure of Christ’s love and confident of his victories already and still to come. Like Gabe Lyons, I’m sure glad Matt is on my team even if we land on different sides of this debate. For those who haven’t been... Read more

by Eric Teetsel and Owen Strachan We don’t spend our time patrolling the lineups of Christian conferences, but this morning we happened upon a list of speakers at the upcoming Q event in Boston. We were dismayed to see the names David Gushee and Matthew Vines, each speaking on one of two panels featuring Christians with different views about homosexuality. For anyone who isn’t already familiar, Q is an approach to Christian cultural engagement that includes national events hosted around the country, regional networks, publications, blogs,... Read more

Recently, many friends have shared a blog Bake for them two. The post seems to have struck a chord with folks from across the theological and political spectrum. According to the blog’s homepage, it has garnered over 300,000 views since April 1. The author, Jessica Kantrowitz, admits that she does not consider gay marriage immoral, but aims her words at Christians whose understanding conforms to orthodox biblical teaching on the subject. Invoking primarily a verse from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:41), with references to... Read more

Things are moving fast in Indiana, and not for the better.  After passing a reasonable religious freedom protection law, the state legislature was cowed into gutting the law by a fierce coalition of LGBT activists, politicians and corporate cronies. These unnecessary revisions put Hoosiers of every faith in a worse position than they were in before the original law was passed! The “fix” means that the RFRA framework which has existed in federal law for over 20 years will not protect... Read more
