Contemplative Prayer & Presence Retreat

March 29, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Saint Catherine’s Episcopal Church of Marietta, GA invites you to attend this special Saturday event on Contemplative Prayer and Presence.

This program invites you to reflect on, and experience, the Christian tradition of contemplative (silent) prayer, and to consider how this prayer can be a blessing to Christians who minister to others.

Our program will include a brief overview of the history of Christian contemplation, instructions in how to practice contemplative prayer, and time for shared reflection on how this kind of prayer can support our ministries as members of the Body of Christ.

This program is sponsored by the Stephen Ministers of St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, and it will be especially beneficial for Stephen Ministers, but contemplation is a form of prayer that can be a blessing for all Christians, regardless of their gifts and ministry, so this program is open to all.

We will begin the morning with a light breakfast of fruit, St. Cat’s almost famous sausage balls, pastries, coffee, and juice!

The Leader: Carl McColman is a lay minister who specializes in helping Christians to grow in the life of prayer. He is a spiritual director, author teacher, and retreat leader. He teaches in Columbia Seminary’s certificate program in Spiritual Formation, and regularly leads retreats and workshops at churches and retreat centers. Carl brings enthusiasm, a down-to-earth teaching style, and an appealing balance of playfulness and reverence to his presentations.

If you plan on attending, please RSVP to dmoore@oaklandcemetery.com. And thank you!
